Why are bugs so fascinating? Do you like bugs? Even if they're a little creepy, if I see one, I have to stop and watch what it's doing. Consider ants. You like them to keep their distance and stay out of the house. But when you're in the garden or doing yardwork, take a minute to watch them while they work. In and out of the ground, forming lines, marching in step with each other. It's really cool if you catch them working together to move something that's too large for a single ant to handle. I was videotaping some ladybugs last spring. We let some weeds go for bees and for ladybugs to lay their eggs, and when the ladybugs started to mature, I went out and taped a couple of them. While I edited the video, I noticed a network of ants in the background.
They are all very different (ants and ladybugs), but they all worked together doing their thing. Building soil, eating aphids, and helping the garden build a healthy foundation. Watch this video, and notice the ants here and there. https://youtu.be/w_8OaZYTzik
Let's all take a lesson from the bugs and work together in harmony. No one person or small group can accomplish everything, but if we all do what we enjoy and utilize our skills, the world gets a little better with each kind deed.
